The Evolution of Personal Style

Also know as, “The Shopbop Semi-Annual Sale.”

Which sounds like a strange pairing, I admit.

I started Dramatis Personae in July of 2007, shortly after I turned 24. This summer, I’ll turn 32, and it’s been 8 years.  Suffice to say, my life has changed a lot in those 8 years, and my style has changed as well.  I write far less about fashion, style, and lifestyle than I used to, and yet, I spend as much time thinking about it as ever.

One thing I’ve never quite nailed is how do I allow my style and lifestyle to grow and change, and allow my blog to grow and change with it?  I’m 8 years older; I, quite literally, make twice as much money as I did when I started this blog. I live in a different city, I’m now married, and I’m no longer in college (though I do work at one, but it’s not the same).

So what can I tell you about my personal style at 31.5?  It’s better than it has ever been, I have the “closet” I’ve always wanted to have, and I’m not writing about it regularly. I routinely shop at 4 (count ’em – 4) places for clothes: Old Navy and Gap for basics (pants, sweaters, the occasional blouse), Trashy Diva for almost everything, and Shopbop for accessories (handbags, shoes, jewelry).  I’ve developed a fondness for Kate Spade’s whimsy, the durability of Frye boots, the city chic style of Rebecca Minkoff, and buying a nice, well-made handbag each year/every other year.

I can afford to spend more, buy less, and buy higher quality.  Yet I realize at the same time, as that has evolved in my life, it may not for everyone else.  Others who may have been reading for years could find themselves prioritizing their spending on things like travel, their children, retirement.

And yet, I feel like I have to say, though my disposable income has increased…. my desire for a great sale remains the same.  That’s why I’m sharing my favorite picks from the Spring 2015 Shopbop sale. In hopes that maybe you’ll have a little splurge money and can pick up a favorite piece at a discounted rate. It’s certainly how I love to shop!
